Frequently asked questions
Honest answers about our carpet and upholstery cleaning — pricing, process, results and care.
Pricing
The cost depends on the size of the area to be cleaned, the condition of the carpets, and whether there are any specific issues such as heavy soiling, staining, pet odours or urine contamination. We aim to keep our pricing fair and competitive, and we are always upfront about costs before any work is booked in.
Upholstery cleaning prices depend on the type of furniture, the size of the item, the fabric, and the level of soiling. A standard armchair will usually cost less than a large corner sofa. If you send us a few photos and some basic details, we can usually provide a quote quickly.
The cleaning process
This depends on how many rooms are being cleaned, the size of the areas, the level of soiling, and whether any stain treatments are needed. As a rough guide, most standard domestic jobs are completed within a couple of hours. Larger or more heavily soiled jobs may take longer.
Drying times vary depending on the carpet type, how heavily soiled it was, airflow in the room, and the weather on the day. In most cases carpets are dry within around 2 to 4 hours. We will give you a realistic estimate once the cleaning is done.
Drying times for upholstery depend on the fabric, moisture used, room temperature, and ventilation. In most cases upholstery is dry within a few hours, though some fabrics may take a little longer. We will always advise you on expected drying times after cleaning.
Small items such as toys, shoes, plants and other personal belongings are helpful to have moved before we arrive. We can usually work around larger furniture where needed, but having the area as clear as possible does help us clean more thoroughly and efficiently.
Yes, we clean both domestic and commercial carpets and upholstery. Most of our work is residential, but we also carry out commercial cleaning for offices, communal areas, and other business premises. If you have a commercial enquiry, just get in touch and we will be happy to discuss it.
Stains & results
In very rare cases certain stains can reappear as the carpet dries — this is known as wick-back and happens when a spill has soaked deeper than the surface. If that happens we will always do our best to resolve it.
No, not when cleaned properly. Rapid re-soiling is caused by sticky residues from poor quality products or incorrect methods. Our process leaves carpets properly rinsed so they stay as clean as possible for as long as possible.
We can treat and improve many stubborn stains, and in a lot of cases remove them completely. Stain removal depends on what the stain is, how long it has been there, and whether anyone has already tried to treat it. We will always assess honestly and advise on the likely outcome.
Yes, we offer treatment for pet odours and urine contamination. Success depends on severity and how deeply it has affected the carpet or upholstery. In many cases we achieve a major improvement, and we will always explain limitations clearly.
Sometimes yes, but it depends on the type of stain and how long it has been there. Older stains can be more difficult, especially if previous attempts have set the stain. We will always do our best, but we would rather be honest than promise a result that may not be possible.
No, not every stain can be guaranteed to come out. Some stains permanently affect the dye or fibre itself, and some will have been made worse by previous cleaning attempts. We will always do our best and use the most suitable treatment, but honest expectations are an important part of professional cleaning.
Safety & care
Professional cleaning should not damage your carpet or sofa when carried out correctly. We use appropriate methods and products based on the fibre or fabric, and we are trained and insured. In fact, one of the biggest risks usually comes from incorrect DIY attempts or the wrong products being used.
Yes, the products we use are selected to be safe and suitable for professional cleaning when used correctly. We recommend following any aftercare advice given, including allowing items to dry properly before normal use. If you have specific concerns, just let us know.
Yes, wool carpets can be cleaned safely when the correct products and methods are used. As a natural fibre, wool requires a careful approach. Having completed WoolSafe Fibre Care Specialist training, we understand the importance of selecting suitable solutions for wool carpets.
Added services
Yes, stain protection can be applied after cleaning on suitable carpets and upholstery. This helps provide protection against future spills and makes items easier to maintain. It is not a guarantee against staining, but it can be a very worthwhile added service in the right circumstances.
